The obituary contains
A desired symbol – There are many symbols available, and can for example be a cross, flower or dove of peace. We are helpful in guiding you about symbols.
Roles of the deceased – For example, wife, mother and sister in the case of a woman, or husband, father and brother in the case of a man, in addition to which you can add more descriptive expressions in this text.
Deceased’s name, date of birth and date of death – Here there are also several options on how to describe the passing of your loved one. This could be, for example, “fell asleep quietly”, “left us so much too soon” or “died suddenly and unexpectedly”, depending on the cause of death and what you want to express in the obituary. It is also possible to insert your own verses, poems and memorial words here, if you wish.
Time and place for the funeral and any wishes for donations – This is with the exception of if the funeral is to take place in silence.
How to design and write an obituary?
Along with an announcement of a person’s passing, the obituary is also used to say something brief about the bereaved’s relationship with the deceased, as well as announce the time and place of the funeral.
In the obituary, you can also say something about any wishes for donations to various organisations as an alternative to flowers. In some newspapers, it is also possible to attach a photo of the deceased.
